Both Honours Teams in Prelim
After one win and one loss in last weekend’s Semi Finals, both Heidelberg Honours teams will feature in the Prelim Finals for the Victorian Volleyball League this coming Saturday (September 4).
The Honours Women lost their Semi Final against top placed Eastside Hawks in straight sets, 0-3 (20-25, 21-25, 25-27). They will play against Melbourne Renegades for a Grand Final spot after Renegades defeated Falcons 15-13 in the 5th set.
The Honours Men defeated Falcons in the knockout Semi Final 3-2 (23-25, 9-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-6). Heidelberg plays Yarra Ranges for a Grand Final spot after Yarra lost to Monash in straight sets.
Matches this weekend are at the State Volleyball Centre as usual, with the Honours Women playing at 12pm, directly followed by the Honours Men at 2pm. Come along to support both teams.
Warrnambool Tournament 2010
Heidelberg fielded three teams at this years Warnambool tournament.
The Men's honors team went through to the grand final undefeated but narrowly lost to Monash in a tough five setter. A great first up effort by coach Luke Campbell and the boys in preparation for defending their VV League title in 2010.

The Heidelberg women's team played in the honors division although the team consisted of only two honors players and seven division one players. The team finished third in the rounds having won two matches and narrowly losing a third match, but lost the first final. Congratulations to Hanna Martin for taking out the Women's Honours MVP award. Coach Jenny Becker was very happy with the improvement in each player over the five matches.

The Division One men's team fought valiantly all weekend with a new combination, and although not indicated in their results, they continued to improve with each match. It was a great effort for the guys and all will benefit from the experience leading into the 2010 VV League season.
Congratulations Danni and Troy Goodman
